“THE LUCKY ONE”

“ OMG! They’re on the show! I can’t believe how handsome they are! ” Chara screams as she saw her idols on TV. “ when will I meet my prince charming? I want to get married soon. I’m not getting any younger anymore! ” She thought. That’s how Chara often thinks whenever he saw her idol on TV or when she saw a couple.

She’s now 31 and still single. It’s not that she’s picky about a guy, in fact she easily fall in love. But the thing is they always ended their relationship after a couple of months. She thinks of herself as the “unlucky one” in terms of her love life.

“TRIIINNNGGG” it is 6AM. Chara turn off the alarm and get herself ready for her work. “Chara! Eat your breakfast now” he Mom said. She gets the sandwich and ran off. “I will just take this. Bye Mom!”

As she’s driving on her way to her office, her phone rang “RIIINNG” “hey Jessa! What’s with the sudden call?” Chara speak to her friend on the phone. “ nothing much! I just want ask you a favour if you can spare me a time later after your work? Help me pick clothes that I will wear on my cousins wedding. Pleaassseee! ” her friend Jessa asked. “okay! Let’s meet later after work.”

7PM AT THE SHOPPING MALL...

“Thank you Cha for lending me your time, I am so confused on what to wear on the wedding so I really need your fashion advice.” Said Jessa. “As if!!!!? You know I’m not a fashion expert!” said Chara. “well, at least you can comment though” said Jessa and they are laughing together. “By the way, do you remember Dan? He was our childhood neighbour when we still kids at our old town.” Jessa explained. “You mean the crying baby? Hahaha. Yes of course! How could I not remember him when he was always crying whenever I tell him a horror stories!” Chara laughed as she remembers the kid. “But what about him?” she asked Jessa. “Well, we met a few days ago when I was attending a seminar at the T-Hotel.  He recognized me then and we talked a bit. He even asked if we still have a contact”. Jessa explained. “Oh really? He also remembers me?”  Chara asked. “Yes! And he invited us for the opening of his new business”.  “Well, why not!” said Chara.

ON THE DAY OF THE SAID EVENT...

“Hey Jessa! You’re here. Thank you for coming” A tall, elegant, and handsome guy going to their direction. Chara was just staring at him while feeling like the world turn into a slow motion. “Hi Dan!” Jessa responded to the guy. “Oh by the way, this is Chara. You still know her right?”. Dan was looking at Chara while Jessa was talking. “Is this really Chara? How come the ugly little girl turns out to be really beautiful?” He said while smiling at her. “Whoa! Looked who’s talking! You’re the ugliest when you cried you know!?” Chara replied to Dan and three reunited childhood friend laugh together.

Dan introduced Chara and Jessa to his other friends and they are chitchatting with each other. Dan went beside Chara’s seat. “How are you doing? It’s been a very long time since we see each other. We were just kids then. ” he asked Chara. “Yeah that’s right! I didn’t expect we see each other again at this age since we moved into another placed. Well, there’s nothing much happen to me after all these years. ” she answered. “I did not expect also. It just happened that I bumped in to Jessa at the Hotel when I was meeting with my client. Are you married now? Do you have kids? ” asked Dan. “Unfortunately nothing came to me to be my husband! hahaha” . Chara said. “well, you are not the only one now!” Dan said in a funny way.  The two of them having their conversation, laughing, sharing their experiences, and exchanging contact numbers before the two girls went home.

FEW DAYS LATER...

Ding dong! Ding dong! Ding dong!. “yes? Who is it?” asked Chara as she went to open the door. She was shocked as she saw Dan was in front of her while panicking because she look so messy and did not even take a bath yet. “Wha-what are you doing here? Why you knew I live here?”she asked. “Sorry for my sudden visit, I called Jessa and asked her your address. I just want to invite you for a lunch together”. He explained.  “You don’t need to come though. You could just give a call. Well, come in first. Just take a sit. Just give me an hour to set myself.  ” Chara Said. “okay! I will just wait here”. He replied.

After they had their lunch, Dan asked Chara if it’s fine to watch a movie together. “Yeah no problem! I think there are many good movies showing now.” Chara said. In the movie theatre, Dan held Chara’s hand and whisper to her ear “you’re really pretty today” and he looked into her eyes. Chara felt so strange, she thinks that if it’s not dark it will show her very red face. She could not look straight into Dan’s eyes as she feels so awkward and her heart is beating so fast. “Can you be my girlfriend?” asked Dan while still looking at her with a very sincere look. “I know it’s really early to ask this to you since it’s we just met a couple of times. But I am sure of what I felt for you since the day we met again after a very long time. I don’t know how to explain my feelings for you that I had a sleepless nights just always thinking of you.” Dan explained. Chara was totally shocked of Dan’s revelation to her. And she said “Yes” as there are no other words came out into her mouth. Suddenly Dan kissed her on her forehead. “thank you for giving me a chance, I promise you to make you happy each day!”Dan happily and excitedly said.

Each in every day they cherished it and just enjoying the loved that they felt each other. As the same as the other couples, there were also times that they had a fight but they make sure they settled it at the end of the day. After 2 years of being together Dan proposed to Chara and she also accepted his married proposal.

For Chara, their love story is a blessing in disguised where she met again the unexpected person in her life. That no matter how many past relationships she’s been through, there is always be a man that is meant for her and thought of herself as “THE LUCKY ONE”.
